Ten million a month on ads, and nobody knows which one sells

The ad platform reports conversions. Sales says the leads are thin. Neither can be proven, because what the platform counts and what people count were never the same thing.

Why this happens

It is almost never a matter of effort. These are the patterns we keep running into.

Ads land on the home page

Someone clicks an ad about one product and lands on a page about everything. They have to hunt for what the ad promised, and most will not.

Conversions counted twice, or not at all

Tracking code gets layered by several people at different times, or disappears after a site update. The reported numbers stop being usable for decisions.

Ad blockers cut half the data

Tracking that only runs in the browser disappears along with ad blockers and privacy settings. What remains is partial, and the missing part is often the most serious buyers.

Leads arrive with no origin

A WhatsApp message arrives with no indication which ad produced it. Sales closes the deal, but nobody can tie it back to the ad spend.

How we fix it

  1. 01

    One page per ad promise

Each ad group gets its own destination that continues the ad's sentence, not the home page. The visitor finds what was promised on the first screen.

  2. 02

    Tracking from the server side

Conversions are sent from the server, not only the browser, so they still register when a visitor runs an ad blocker. Both are paired so one event is never counted twice.

  3. 03

    Leads carry their origin

Messages arriving by WhatsApp or form already carry the page and campaign they came from, so a closed sale can be traced to the ad that started it.

  4. 04

    Numbers verified after install

Once installed, each conversion is fired and checked until it appears in the platform's own report with the same event identity. Installed is not the same as proven.

What it looks like

A picture of the screen you would work in, not an illustration.

What this screen shows

  • Leads this month
  • Matched to an ad
  • Cost per lead

Case study

Home repair services

Situation

The ad budget was doubled twice, but nobody could tell which ad group produced jobs. Leads arrived on WhatsApp with no origin.

What we built

A separate destination per ad group, conversion tracking installed server side and paired with the browser side, and every WhatsApp link made to carry its campaign marker.

Result

  • Nearly every lead can be traced to its ad
  • Wasteful ad groups can be stopped with evidence
  • Conversions stopped double counting
  • Data still records when visitors run blockers

Questions we get asked

Our tracking is already installed. Why are the numbers still off?

Installed and proven are different things. The usual causes we find: layered code counting one event twice, or browser only tracking that disappears behind a blocker. Neither shows up until you fire each conversion and check.

What does server side tracking change?

Browser tracking can be blocked by the visitor; server tracking cannot. Both run together and are paired through a shared event identity, so the platform knows it is one conversion, not two.

Our leads come through WhatsApp, not a form. Can that be tracked?

Yes. WhatsApp buttons are built to carry the page and campaign they came from, and the click itself is recorded as an event. A deal closed in chat still has a trail back to the ad that started it.

Does this break privacy rules?

No, as long as visitor consent is respected and personal data is never sent raw. Tracking only runs after consent, and anything identifying is sent as a one way hash.
