An investor asks how their animals are doing, and you recount from scratch

Feed goes in the barn book, weights are recorded on another sheet, losses are reported by chat. When an investor asks, it all has to be gathered again, and the answer is always a few days late.

Why this happens

It is almost never a matter of effort. These are the patterns we keep running into.

Barn records sit apart from the money

Feed, medicine, and weights are recorded for operations while costs and revenue are recorded for the books. The two never meet until the cycle ends.

Investors have no way to look for themselves

Every investor question routes through you. The more investors, the more time goes into assembling near identical reports.

Barns cannot be compared

Each barn is recorded slightly differently, so nobody can see which has the best feed conversion, or why.

How we fix it

  1. 01

A barn cycle as a document

Each cycle gets its own document with opening population, feed in, weights, losses, and harvest. Every number attaches to the right cycle.

  2. 02

    Costs attach to their barn

Feed and medicine purchases are charged to the barn that uses them, so cost per head reads while the cycle is still running.

  3. 03

    A dashboard investors open themselves

Investors see population, average weight, and harvest projection for the share they funded, with no view of other investors' data.

  4. 04

    Barns comparable in one table

Because every barn uses the same record structure, feed conversion and mortality are comparable, so you can see which one needs attention.

What it looks like

A picture of the screen you would work in, not an illustration.

What this screen shows

  • Live population
  • Average weight
  • Feed conversion

Case study

Poultry farming

Situation

Four barns kept separate books while a dozen investors asked by chat. Assembling one investor's report could take half a working day.

What we built

Barn cycles became documents carrying feed, weights, and losses, costs were charged to the consuming barn, and a scoped dashboard was built for each investor's own share.

Result

  • Investors stopped asking one by one in chat
  • Cost per head reads while the cycle runs
  • The barn with the worst feed conversion became visible
  • Cycle reports close without re-gathering data

Questions we get asked

Our barn staff are not used to typing.

Daily entry is kept minimal: feed figures, sample weights, and mortality count, all from a phone in a few taps. The complicated maths happens out of sight.

Can an investor see other investors' data?

No. Each investor account sees only the share they funded. The restriction is applied to the data itself, not just hidden in the interface, so it cannot be worked around through a link.

We raise more than one kind of animal.

The cycle, feed, and weight structure is fundamentally the same. What gets adjusted are the units, periods, and the indicators relevant to each kind of animal.

What if a barn has no signal?

Entry still works and is stored on the device, then uploads once staff return to signal. No record is lost waiting for a connection.
