A parent opens your school site on a phone, then closes it

The last announcement is three years old, fees are not mentioned anywhere, and the admissions button leads to a form you have to download and print. Parents have no time, so they move to the next school.

Why this happens

It is almost never a matter of effort. These are the patterns we keep running into.

The site is only touched during admissions season

Each year the site is rushed into shape before enrolment, then left alone for the next ten months. Parents searching off season find a school that looks inactive.

No page answers what parents actually ask

Parents always ask the same things: fees, schedule, curriculum, uniforms, transport, and entry requirements. If the answers are missing they have to call, and most will not.

Admissions still run on printed forms

The form is downloaded, printed, filled by hand, then delivered. Each step loses applicants, and the committee still has to retype everything.

It falls apart on a phone

Nearly every parent opens it on a phone, but the site was designed for a desktop. The text is tiny, the menu cannot be tapped, and tables run off the screen.

How we fix it

  1. 01

    Pages that answer parent questions

Fees, curriculum, daily schedule, activities, and entry requirements are written openly on their own pages, not saved up for a phone call.

  2. 02

Admissions that finish on a phone

Parents fill in details, upload documents, and receive a registration number without printing anything. The committee receives the data already structured and sortable.

  3. 03

    Announcements anyone can update

School staff can publish announcements, calendars, and activity galleries themselves in minutes, so the site does not go stale once enrolment ends.

  4. 04

Designed for the small screen first

Layouts are built for phones and then adapted upward, because that is where nearly every parent arrives from.

What it looks like

The page a prospective buyer sees, on a large screen and on a phone.

What this screen shows

  • Apply online
  • School profile

Situation

The site was only updated before enrolment, admissions ran on printed forms, and the committee retyped hundreds of files every year.

What we built

Pages that answer parent questions openly, admissions moved onto phones with document upload, and staff given a way to publish announcements themselves.

Result

  • Registration can be completed without visiting the school
  • The committee stopped retyping applicant files
  • Announcements publish without waiting on a vendor
  • Fee and requirement questions dropped sharply

Questions we get asked

We are a public school with required layout rules.

Required elements such as the crest, structure, or links to the education office stay in place. What we improve is the part that drives parent decisions: clarity of information and usability on a phone.

Can our own staff maintain it afterwards?

That is the point. Publishing announcements, adding activity photos, and updating the calendar are designed for staff with no technical background. For the first year, larger changes can still be handed to us.

Application files contain children's personal data. Is it safe?

Applicant data is stored apart from the public pages and only opens for committee accounts you designate. Uploaded files cannot be reached by guessing a link, and access can be revoked at any time.

Enrolment season is close. Is there still time?

It depends how close, and we will say plainly if there is not enough time. When the window is tight we can ship the admissions part first so it serves this season, with the rest following after.
